Cactus and Succulents

Cactus and succulents are a must for any garden but especially gardens that experience dry hot weather during the year.  They require little water and nutrients with the biggest issue being overwatering or humid conditions.

Don’t be afraid of spines.  All you need are leather gloves and a wide pair of tongs to move cactus.  Tall cacti make wonderful backdrops giving form and texture.

There are many different colours and forms of succulents to use in the foreground which will draw the eye and brighten up an otherwise dry area. Their flowers are often unique and unusual.

Choose a hot area in the garden where nothing else will grow.  Most cactus and succulents will tolerate light frosts.
