Pork plays an important role in many cuisines around the world. It is one of the most versatile meats with bacon, ham, chops and roasts. The mince pairs well with beef mince in meatballs and rissoles giving more flavour to the dish.

Budget cuts include shoulder roasts (which are wonderful slow cooked for pulled pork), forequarter chops, mince and budget bacon.  Leftover ham can be added to casseroles, soups and stews.

If you are watching your weight go for lean cuts if you can afford it such as short cut bacon or butterfly fillets.

Bacon can be added to soups and stews for more flavour, wrap it around chicken breast or meatloaf or just for breakfast with eggs.
