There is nothing more comforting than soup on a cold winters day.  It’s even better when you can use food you have grown in your garden.

Pumpkins are one of the easiest vegetables to grow if you have enough room.  Most varieties store well and are perfect for soup, giving you cheap lunches throughout the cooler months.

If your garden is bare and storeroom empty don’t despair.  Look for vegetables in season then buy in bulk.  Soup is easily frozen and reheats well.
