Six Point Patchwork Christmas Tree Star
- Cut Out the Fabric
Cut out the diamond shape template then trace around four times on each fabric and cut out. You will have twelve pieces in total.
- Hand Stitch the Points Together
Now assemble each side of the star. Line up the middle points then hand sew a half inch down each side (1) and sew the middle points together alternating the three fabrics until you have six pieces sewn together. This will help to keep everything aligned as now you will sew down each side (1) on the machine.
- Ensure the Fabrics Match
Repeat with remaining pieces, making sure that when the right sides of the star are put together, the same fabrics match.
- Attach the Ribbon
Put ends of ribbon together then place on the right side of one star. Hand sew ends to one of the points.
- Sew Around the Outside
Place right sides together then pin. Sew around the outside leaving a gap at the bottom of the star.
- Turn Inside Out then Press
Turn inside out, using a pin to pull out the points then press both sides of the star making sure to press in the hem where the gap is. If you use polyester fabrics, you will need to be mindful of the heat level of the iron.
- Insert Wadding
Insert polyester wadding using the end of a brush or other tool to push wadding into each point. Sew the gap together, slip stitching the hem so the stitches can’t be seen.
- Sew on the Centre Beads
Use a similar thread colour to your bead then sew a bead onto the centre of each side of the star, pulling the centre in.
All done! Hang on the tree and enjoy or make a few to give to guests at your Christmas party for a unique gift.
